When the recession hit in 2008, our pizza restaurant had to be closed down. To make ends meet, we decided to sell the plants and trees online from our backyard on Craigslist. We named the online plant nursery after our beloved dog Pixie (R.I.P.), who had been Mrinali's (my wife) faithful companion while she was working there.

 

Everything happens for a reason, and it was no different for us. We had a zoning issue that finally led us to get our 3-acre nursery on an affordable lease. In the spring of 2011, we moved to our new location, and we last looked back a while ago.

Mrinali is the driving force and mastermind behind the nursery. She holds a Master Gardener certification from our county and a master's degree in English literature. When she finds the time, she intends to pursue a degree in Horticulture.

 

I, Bala, am the designated "honey-do list" guy. Despite having a bachelor's degree in agricultural science and an M.B.A., I have no knowledge of plants--in a humorous twist; I obtained my M.B.A. to erase the four years of my agricultural studies!

My passion is Stocks Trading, and I am a small business consultant / Coach. 

We now enjoy plants- a sure sign of getting old!
