Has narrow 1/8" wide, 12" long blades of dark green foliage. Evergreen in warmer climates. Pensylvania Sedge is a native to Central and Eastern U.S. Creeping slowly by rhizomes it makes a good ground cover in dry shade. White inflorescences in late Spring are followed by seed heads that add interest and texture. Carex pensylvanica will grow in average, dry soil. Prefers medium to dry soil. Will tolerate drying out with regular watering. Use for ground cover, mass plantings, naturalizing, erosion control on slopes, lawn substitute in dry shade and woodland areas. Natural habitat - often found growing under oak trees.

Note: The plant is shipped in its pot, firmly secured with several layers of clear tape, thereby avoiding any shuffling and moving during transit. The plant reaches you with minimal damage- very safe and secure. We have been shipping plants like this for several years (plant are sometimes shipped in smaller pots for safety and ease of shipping). Most plants go dormant in fall and winter and will lose most of their leaves - looking dead and dry - very normal. They will flush out in spring.
