A Star Series variety. Fire Star is evergreen with linear, blue-green foliage with a mat forming, mounding habit. A showy profusion of fragrant, fringed, crimson red, 1" blooms cover the foliage in Spring. Deadheading increases bloom time. Will rebloom in the Summer but not as profusely as in Spring. Benefits from a light trim after blooming. Dianthus 'Fire Star' needs well-drained soil and is best with slightly alkaline soil and average water. Good choice for borders, edging and rock gardens.
