A low growing, carpet-like spreader with a mossy appearance. Leaves linear and sharply pointed. Phlox subulata 'Blue Emerald' is covered in Spring with Blue-lilac flowers for 2-4 weeks. Can be pruned after blooming to keep it low and neat. Phlox subulata adapts to a wide range of soil conditions. Tolerates drought once established. Recommended in small and large plantings as a ground cover, for erosion control, slopes, mass planting and borders. Works well in rock gardens and creeping over retaining walls.
